Q: James, welcome to Coyne Recruitment, tell
our candidates and clients a little about you.
A: Hi! It’s a pleasure to be joining Coyne
and I’m very excited to get stuck in. Upon graduating university in 2018, I
have spent the last two and a bit years working for Alderwood recruiting solely
within the skills and learning sector.
Q: What do you love about the skills sector
and recruiting within it?
A: I was fortunate to enjoy my time at
university, and achieve a degree which allowed me to begin a reputable career
within recruitment. However, I recognise that the progression from academic
learning to employment is not so clear-cut for all. This awareness is what
makes me so passionate about the skills sector – I believe that the
opportunities which apprenticeships and alternative training can provide, to
develop practical and applied skills, allow individuals to make a more smooth
transition from learning to employment. I love recruiting within this sector,
as I am able to build relationships with clients who share my passion for the
training industry and help them to build their businesses, and I achieve a
great buzz from helping candidates progress in their careers.
Q: What’s your impression of the skills
recruitment market, particularly with what has happened in 2020?
A: With unemployment rates as high as they
have been in recent memory now more than ever the skills sector has a massive
part to play in training and upskilling the nation to keep the economy going. Considering
the significant amount of money invested into the skills sector, in recent
times, through the apprenticeships levy, incentive payments for employers
hiring apprentices, and the introduction of new schemes such as JETS and
Kickstart, I feel it is an extremely exciting time for our sector – I expect a
very busy 2021!
Q: Why did you choose Coyne Recruitment?
A: Having already spent two years recruiting
in the skills sector, it was immediately very apparent that the team at Coyne
had a wealth of knowledge of the skills sector, acquired through a first-hand
understanding of working for a training provider, from their time at Ingeus,
and as a result of their successful experience recruiting within the sector. I
feel that this unique understanding of the sector will allow me to develop and
hone my skills and knowledge. Their knowledge and enthusiasm, coupled with
their love for the sector, shone through and with a clear, ambitious vision for
the future it was a no brainer.
