We are currently looking to support a fantastic organisation recruit for two positions: An English GCSE Tutor and a Maths GCSE Tutor.
Our client are very well established are and are looking for engaging teachers to work with their 16-18 year old learners. It is essential that you have taught either Maths or English at GCSE level in the past to be considered.
MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION
To support innovation and development of learning and teaching strategies within the Maths or English department.
To work in partnership with the Head of Maths or Head of English to strategically lead whole company learning and teaching.
To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides tutors/ students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential
To contribute to raising standards of student attainment within Maths or English
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Teaching:
To undertake a designated programme of teaching support at GCSE
Deliver consistently high-quality lessons
Act as a role model through an open door policy to lessons and modelling best practice in lessons
To maintain appropriate records and to provide relevant accurate and up-to-date information for MIS, registers
To complete the relevant documentation to assist in the tracking of students/tutors.
Prioritise and manage time effectively, ensuring continued professional development in line with the role
To follow the company policies and procedures
To ensure the effective/efficient deployment of classroom support.
To maintain discipline in accordance with the our procedures, and to encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and homework.
Ensure Equality and Diversity is embedded and instilled both in and out of the classroom
Identify and raise any safeguarding issues to the relevant representative
Promote and instil a safe learning environment
Assessment & Feedback:
Assess and feedback to tutors/students in line with company policy
Innovate and develop assessment and feedback strategies to shape and further improve coompany policy
Mark, grade and give written/verbal and diagnostic feedback as required
Undertake assessment of tutors and/or students as requested by external examination bodies, curriculum areas and our procedures
Assess, record and report on the attendance, progress, development and attainment of tutors and/or students and to keep such records as are required
Complete the relevant documentation to assist in the tracking of tutors and/or students
Track tutors and/or student progress and use the information to inform learning and teaching
Staff Development:
To continue personal development in the relevant areas including subject knowledge and teaching methods
To contribute towards the learning and development of the Maths or English team and wider staff to improve learning and teaching
Contribute towards our CPD programmes
Provide regular feedback for colleagues in a way which recognises good practice and results in tangible impact on student learning
Establish clear expectations and constructive relationships among staff
Help to support performance management
Support teachers experiencing difficulties
Contribute towards the induction and mentoring of newly qualified teachers
To take part in the initial teacher induction/training programme within our company
Advise on professional development
To take part in the staff development programme by participating in arrangements for further training and professional development.
Strategic Development and Managing Resources:
Support the development and implementation of the vision and strategic direction of the company which reflects its educational and moral aspirations and values
Company level in conjunction with the leadership team
Contribute to the our Development Plan with regards to the development of learning and teaching on a company level in conjunction with the leadership team
Contribute to the Quality Improvement Plan and Self-Assessment Report in conjunction with the Head of Teaching and Learning
Contribute to the company-wide planning activities.
Contribute to the process of monitoring and evaluation of curriculum areas in line with agreed policies and procedures, including evaluation against quality standards and performance criteria.
To seek/implement modification and improvement where required.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Recent teaching experience at GCSE/primary level
Relevant subject knowledge (i.e. knowledge of the mathematics/science/English KS3 and GCSE curriculum OR knowledge of the year 5/6 primary curriculum)
Create engaging learning resources and assessments (either for students or adults).
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Outstanding attention to detail.
Able to take the initiative and go the extra mile.
Passionate about the difference that technology can make to outcomes of all learners.
Desirable:
Experience of working with Educational Technology.
Innovative, original ideas and an interest in product development.
Experience delivering training to adults.
